Fleischmann Planetarium - Reno NV

The Fleischmann Planetarium is located in Reno, Nevada. It was founded by Dr. Reinhold Fleischmann, who received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, College of Engineering in Astrophysics. Dr. Fleischmann developed the first fully automatic planetarium which started operations in 1963. The Fleischmann Planetarium is one of seven planetariums that make up the “Felekler Planetariums” in Reno. This planetarium houses a number of telescopes to give scientists the best views of our solar system and universe.

The Fleischmann Planetarium is well known for its “day-of-the-night” presentations. These presentations are done every Friday night from dusk until dawn. Each week a new selection of over thirteen different themes for the shows are selected by the staff and artists from around the world. During these shows, lighted segments of the sky with colorful gas balloons called “sky balloons” are inflated in order to take us into the heavens.

For people looking for a place to go and enjoy a bit of nature and an educational experience while doing it, the Fleischmann Planetarium might be a perfect place to visit. There are several parks within a few miles of the Planetarium, and it is within easy commute distance to Reno, Las Vegas, and Cody, Wyoming. There are also camping grounds within a few miles of the Planetarium.
